The ZOONOSIS event or Man's Best Friend's Worst Enemies was an up close and personal look at the disease organisms that can infect people and their pets. During the workshop, participants viewed the  INFECTIOUS video by Pablo Rojas.

Highlights of the workshop included poster images of parasites and microbes i.e., swimming salmonella, trypanosomes navigating around eel blood cells and the Irish native, sheep liver fluke.

The Zoonosis lectures featured talks by Yvonne Abbott on MRSA cases coming through the UCD Veterinary Hospital, Jarlath Nally on Leptospirosis, aka Weil's disease, the most geographically widespread zoonotic disease in the world, and Annetta Zintl on Toxoplasma gondii, a protozoan that may well have parasitised your (outdoor) cat.

If you are interested in more information about these diseases, or want your pet to participate in a survey,  contact us at zoonosisart@gmail.com.
