HACK THE CITY: MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP

We're looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated graduate to work with the marketing and communications team at Science Gallery during the development and delivery of upcoming show HACK THE CITY.

The position will give you a hands-on, behind the scenes role at Science Gallery as we roll out one of our most ambitious projects to date. HACK THE CITY will look to release the full potential of Dublin city through the work of artists, hackers, scientists, designers, engineers and social activists, reaching beyond the gallery to connect, provoke and partner with its citizens.

During the course of the internship, we will welcome our one millionth visitor, launch the HACK THE CITY programme, launch three HACKLABS throughout Dublin city, launch the Global Science Gallery Network, run Dublin's first Mini Maker Faire, stage a large-scale TEDxDublin and return to the Electric Picnic Mindfield.

At Science Gallery our mission is to ignite creativity where art and science collide - we aim to be the world's leading organisation for transforming curious minds through science, with eight Global Science Gallery Network members planned to open around the globe by 2020.

This is an exciting opportunity that will offer someone wishing to develop a career in arts or science communications valuable experience and networking opportunities whilst working alongside a highly committed and experienced team.

As with all internships at Science Gallery, an initial month-long voluntary role (25 hours per week) will be followed by a full time, three-month paid internship position dependent on a successful interim review. Exceptional interns may also be considered for future roles at Science Gallery, and we are lucky to count a number of former interns amongst our broader team.

Previous education, experience and demonstrated interest in arts or science communications is desirable, and an awareness of the work of Science Gallery is essential. Applicants should be consummate multi-taskers, have a proactive and upbeat approach with co-workers, good writing and proofing skills, and be highly fluent with digital and social media. Candidates making an application should also be comfortable with joining the highly committed full-time team to work beyond normal office hours during busy periods.

To apply, please send your CV to fionn.kidney@sciencegallery.com with the subject 'SG Internship', accompanied with a cover letter telling us about what Science Gallery means to you, your passion in life, and why we need you on the team this summer!

A limited shortlist of applicants will be invited to meet members of the team before the end of April, and a successful candidate will be chosen by 01.05.12.

Deadline for applications: Friday 20.04.12 at 2pm.
Start date: Early May.
